Allah (English pronunciation: / ˈ æ l ə / or / ˈ ɑː l ə /; Arabic: الله‎ Allāh, IPA: [ʔɑlˈlɑː] ( listen), [ʔalˤˈlˤɑː]) is a word for God used in the context of Islam and other monotheistic religions of Arabic-speaking communities. In Arabic, the word means simply "the God". It is used primarily by Muslims and Bahá'ís, and often, albeit not exclusively, used by Arabic-speaking Eastern Catholic Christians, Maltese Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians, Mizrahi Jews and Sikhs. It is related to ʼĔlāhā in Aramaic.

Allah (Arabic: الله‎, Allāh, IPA: [ʔalˤːɑːh]) is the standard Arabic word for "God", used by Arabic-speakers of all Abrahamic faiths, including Christians and Jews, as well as Muslims. The term is most likely derived from a contraction of the Arabic article al- and ʾilāh "deity, god" to al-lāh meaning "the [sole] deity, God" (ho theos monos); another theory traces the etymology of the word to the Aramaic Alāhā.
