A. First of all you need to buy {Acetone} polish remover. Make sure it does not say non-acetone! Things You'll Need: * Plastic garbage bag * Acetone polish remover * Petroleum jelly * Nail buffer * Nail clippers * Glass bowl 1} Find a good work area where you can sit down and be comfortable. A kitchen table works perfectly for this. Be sure to cover the surface of your table with a plastic garbage bags and a thick layer of newspaper to soak up spills and prevent damage to your table s surface. 2} Using a pair of nail clippers, cut the acrylic nails down as short as possible to make the removal easier. 3} Fill a glass bowl with nail polish remover (the type with acetone in it). This will be used to soak your nails in and dissolve the nail glue… [cont.]

Q. What can you use to remove nail polish (besides nail polish remover) that you can find in the house?

A. Any thing with acetone in it Some Perfumes Clear Nail polish (if you paint your nail with clear nail polish and let it sit for a brief second, it will help remove the layers of nail polish underneath, with the help of a Kleenex of some sort) Soak your fingers in warm to hot water and then the nail polish will become easier to scrape off

My sofa was a "Camel" color. I then remembered someone using balm to condition leather. I got some Vermont's Original Bag Balm and massaged it through and let it stay. It made the leather's color even out a lot! Also leaving it so nice and soft. I swear it is the same stuff Dr. Martin uses for there leather shoe conditioner. What happens if you drink nail polish remover?
Q. Today at school, a classmate put a nail polish remover pad into someone's water and told someone to drink it. The boy took a sip and realized what was in it, and went to the nurse. He complained of stomach ache and feeling dizzy. He's going to the doctor now, will anything happen to him, even if it was just one sip?

A. Acetone, is one of the ingredients for making Methamphetamine , and yes, it is poison in even small amounts. Your friend will be very sick for a few days, but should survive without too much damage to his liver.

How do I get nail polish remover off my wood floors?
Q. Ok so like 3 months ago i spilt nail polish remover on my rug. It seeped thru. Now i have these like bubble things on my hardwood floors. I tryed steaming the floors and it doesn;t work. If I scratch it off it leaves it kinda unfinished. Help!

A. I agree with some of what has been said... acetone in the nail polish remover ruins the finish on wood...but... do not just assume you know what has been used for the finish on your hardwood floors...there are many many finishes used on floors..mine is a hand rubbed oil finish which is waaay different than a varethane finish...and of course you will need to know how to match up colour stains as they change over years, and not only the type of finish used, but what kind..gloss, semi gloss, oil rubbed, matte..etc... Refinishing one small section of a hardwood floor is not a diy project for someone who does not know anything about finishes and stains, and I really don't think anyone should give the impression that it is...you might be better… [cont.]

Any people have any good ways to remove nail polish without remover?
Q. Nail polish remover ruins my nails more then the polish, and if I chip it off it peels part of the nail away. Files file my nail too much, leaving it thin and breakable. And I tried fresh nail polish and wiping it away, but that takes too long and gets messy. So any nice, more natural ways? Even if it involves some strange mixture of stuff to form a bubbling goo.

A. This is a real fun way to do it (kids love it). 1. Cover your finger with a semi thick layer of Elmer's glue, and wait for it to completely dry. 2. Apply clear topcoat onto your nail and wait for it to dry. 3. Peel the glue off, and the whole thing should come off :)

Help! How do you get nail polish remover off of a keyboard?
Q. I spilled nail polish remover on the keyboard (not on the keys, on the side) it is working fine, but it left a mark where it spilled at. How can I get it off?
Asked by Shannon - Wed Jun 4 15:57:45 2008 - Cleaning & Laundry - 9 Answers - Comments
A. Nail polish remover is a solvent. Solvents and plastics are not always friends. They interact chemically. The solvent has already evaporated, so there is nothing to remove. The color change in the plastic is permanent.

Q. I mean, in the sense that nothing else works. What's in nail polish remover that actually removes the polish, and nothing else?

How to get rid of nail polish remover on wood ?
Q. I got a teeny weeny drop of nail polish on the wood table, i stupidly used nail polish remover and it looks even worse . I tried to even it out with more remover but no luck . HELLP .

A. There is a way to fix it with a little elbow grease: use fine grit sand paper, grade 000, lightly sand down the damaged area. Then, apply woodstain in a matching color. You may need more than 1 coat, and be sure not to overlap onto pre-stained area. Relatively cheap to do.

How does nail polish remover chemically take of nail polish?
Q. I have to do a chemistry project on how nail polish remover chemically takes off nail polish? Any geniuses know?
Asked by I Love God! - Sun Feb 6 23:39:14 2011 - Chemistry - 5 Answers - Comments
A. Acetone is usually the main ingredient in nail polish remover. Acetone is a chemical that is produced through bacterial fermentation. Ethyl acetate is another solvent that is often used in nail polish remover, as well. Acetone is such a powerful component that it has the capability of dissolving some plastics and is used as a cleaning agent, a super-glue remover and fiberglass-tool cleaner, in addition to fiberglass-resi n thinner. Some nail polish removers boast that they are acetone-free. These removers contain acetate, instead.
